Very exciting!
I’ll be back later with observations on Game Day [g], but wanted to let y’all know right away that the launch party for the book is tonight _at the Arizona Biltmore Hotel_, not at the Poisoned Pen bookstore. (The Pen is organizing the event and selling books, but they can’t possibly cram hundreds of people into the bookstore.)
Rosana, my webmistress, sent out an email this morning to the website subscribers, welcoming them to the party, but mistakenly ended it with “…at the Poisoned Pen.” I’m sure she’ll be sending out a quick PS shortly [g], but wanted to put in an early word here, since I don’t know when she’ll get my email about it.
Hope to see many of you in person, tonight and on the road–and I hope ALL of you will enjoy the new book! Thanks for buying it. [smile]
Happy Echo day! Mine is pre-ordered from Amazon and was shipped today! Can't wait to get it!
I also got a copy a day early–my bookstore called yesterday and said my copy was ready to pick up, and I wasn't inclined to inquire as to why–and I dove into it right away. I had to change my dinner plans to accomodate this very pleasant surprise…oh well, leftovers it is!
Congrats, Diana, the pages have me hooked!
PS: I just wanted to tell you that your "acknowledgements" section and I find them THE most entertaining! I have laughed out many times over the years!
"Echo in the Bone" feels nice and substantial in my hands, and I am so looking forward to delving into it tonight.
I am lucky as this year I get to see you in Calgary at Word fest. It will require an early rise and a long drive, but a great opportuntiy to thank you in person for all your hard graph on our behalf!
Good luck for Game Day! Bought my copy this morning. I'm loving it so far! Thank you.
Congratulations on Echo's release, Diana! I'm a recent convert to the series so have lots of catching up to do!
Carol Garvin
I am so excited about this latest edition! I am rereading all the previous ones to get ready!!! I need to HURRY! I am only on Drums of Autum.
Hope you come to the Panhandle of Florida area…(Pensacola, HINT HINT!)
PS- my best friend graduates CRNA (nurse anesthesia) school NEXT August. I got her a book, but she is making me keep it at my house until she graduates b/c she is afraid she will read it. When I got her started on the series she didn't sleep for about two days.
You just can't put these down! You just get so nervous something is going on without you..you just have to know!
I've had my copy on order for weeks now, but the book shop says "the computer says it was released yesterday, but we don't have it. Maybe by the end of the week?"
I'm very jealous of all the people that are reading it already!
Impatiently awaiting the Swedish translation. Not due till June the publisher says… *sigh*
But I am looking forward to celebrating Midsummer with Claire & Jamie…
Dear Nicole–
I haven't had anything _like_ time to figure out how to do anything intelligent with Facebook yet, I'm afraid. [g]
But if you're in Boston, hop on the train and come down to DC for the signing on the 29th at Bailey's Crossroads, VA! Probably cheaper than flying to Phoenix. [g]
Dear Angela–
Well, you could just ask me, you know. [g] No, this isn't the last book; I only got as far as 1778, and I do need to get all the way through the American Revolution, so there will certainly be at least _one_ more book!
I already have it in South Korea, and have the first few chapters read! VERY excited! I just got my my 23 year-old sister hooked on the series–I love passing it along. She keeps saying, "Edward and Bella got nothing on Jamie and Claire!!" …my sentiments exactly Living abroad, the series is my go-to comfort reading. Thank you SO much for keeping me entertained all these years. Every time I re-read the series, I'm swept away again.
I'm 150 pages in and lovin' it! Thanks again for a wonderful story…. I'd have stayed up all night, but I was already nodding and almost dropped the book!
I'll see you Saturday!!! I'm so excited. Love these books.
Congratulations Diana! Now you get to travel all over the place and we lucky fans get to meet up with you. Can't wait, see you in Mountain View.
BTW, my co-workers were so glad when yesterday was over because I was useless all day waiting to get home and start reading.
Good luck on your exhausting schedule!! I really don't know how you do it, it sounds absolutely grueling! I'm excited about some of the things you mentioned in your facebook chat yesterday! A Master Raymond book!! That is awesome, he is one of the characters that I definitely would love to see a book about! But something struck me, and since I couldn't participate in the chat (I was taking my 2 toddlers to a movie, Cloudy with a chance of meatballs, I highly recommend it!) I was wondering if I could ask you a question?
You have mentioned before possible books about Ellen and Black Brian (Jamie's parents), Roger's parents, Master Raymond, and the already published Lord John series. You also mentioned that you are going to do a modern mystery novel, but it seems to me, the (REALLY) humble observer, that you mostly stick to the characters that were born out of Outlander.
Do you find it hard, once you have created a character for a supporting role, to leave their story untold? Do they come alive and start speaking to you until you feel like you will burst if you don't get it out? Or is it, a lot like us, that you have fallen in love with the characters and have a hard time letting them go?
Thank you for your consideration! I hope you have time to see some sights during this tour, if you catch your breath long enough!! Thank you for being so accessible to us normal folk!
I was so disappointed that B & N sent me an email that my preordered audiobook (Davina Porter's narration I hope!) is on backorder for 30 days! I was so hoping to start it this week. But, you know, I will continue to savor the anticipation until it gets here. Thank you, dear DG, for what you do. And the best of all luck with AEITB.
I am picking my copy up tonight that I preordered from Chapters and I am so excited to start since I finished the last of the series at the beginning of the summer and I have missed having Claire and Jamie in my life! My 8 year old stepson is always interested in what I am reading and is very aware of the upcoming novel (as I have been doing the countdown since June)he wants to know how Claire and Jamie are doing so I have to get reading! I will see you in Ottawa on October 14th!
FINISHED IT!!!! I cannot BELIEVE the cliffhangers you left you naughty author! LOL The last 100 pages or so felt a bit rushed, but maybe it was ME rushing thru! I will definitely do an immediate reread now so as to absorb it all more completely. NOW HURRY UP DIANA WITH THE NEXT ONE LOL xoxo melzie
