  1. It did and Homer’s a cutie!

  2. Homer is up in all his dachsie glory!

  3. Oh, boy. Are you in for it now. Just look at that face….

  4. Homer’s a doll and the Corgi!! Looks a lot like mine! Especially from behind! LOL!

  5. Dear Janine–

I think corgis have charming butts. [g] Like little bears.

  6. Is that Gerald Forbes ear on the edge of the carpet?!!

The pictures are adorable; thank you for sharing them.

  7. Dear Saundra–

Does look like an ear, doesn’t it? [g] But no, it’s a nasty–but evidently wildly attractive dog-chew.

  8. Homer is absolutely adorable! Those eyes…!
Give him a big wet kiss between the ears from Nicole in Germany (and yes, he will go *eeew – kissing* :-))

  9. That second picture is hilarious!

(Sorry if you get a double post from me, Blogger seems to be having troubles.)

  10. I love the dead dog pose on the couch and of course, Homer curled up like a littly furry black comma looking at the camera. How adorable is he??!! Smooches to the puppy!

  11. Gosh, I love dogs. I love when their little ears fold back like that. He looks so sweet.

  12. Diana — So glad that you are blogging; I have followed your career since Outlander’s original publishing, and now — in between your publishing — I can still have access to your prose! As a child, I had a smooth haired standard Dachsund kindly given to me from my parents for Christmas; Toby was curled up like a chocolate brown in the manger under the tree. Homer has the very gentle eyes typical of the breed –what is the orgin of the name? Was it the philosopher…or the animated series?

  13. Dear Karen–

Um, neither. Homer’s named for the author of the Iliad and the Odyssey–good name for a storyteller’s dog. [g]

  14. Homer is adorable. He looks just like my mini doxie, who is at the moment smooshed up against my leg, with my daughter smooshed behind my back. I’m all smooshed. Typical mom eh?

  15. Oh it does look like an ear! Too funny!

  16. Diana,

Homer is very cute. My hubbie has had doxies since he was 12 (he's 54 now). We lost our precious Sam last August (gluttonous dog's will eat anything…even if it's bad!) She was the happiest dog I've ever seen. We got 2 new doxies right before Thanksgiving through the Dachshund rescue. Elvira (Elli) is a 3-year-old Black & Tan Smooth. When we got her she was underweight (11 lbs). She's now about 12 1/2 lbs. Morticia (Tish) is a 15-month-old Black and Tan mini (8 lbs) and she is absolutely full of P & V. They're wonderful companions but a bit on the stubborn side :)

    Love the books…anxiously awaiting Echo.

  17. Dear Kristy–

I think _all_ dachshunds are stubborn. [g]

  18. Homer is adorable! Not sure I’ve ever seen a regular size dachsie.
