“In the chilly season, when the air grows cold and the spiders die, comes a thin time. The days are short, so all the light of them is concentrated, squeezed between the dawn and dark. This is why the light is different, and each thing has a Shadow. This is when the other worlds draw close, and the barriers between grow thin. In a thin time, they say, you must be careful, because you might walk through a cobweb unthinking, and find yourself Elsewhere.
There is more than one other world; no one knows how many. Some beasts can see one; the dogs will sometimes stare at a blank space on the wall of a cave, and their hackles rise at what they see.
Sometimes, I think I see it, too.”
Happy Samhain!
Diana,
Well, let me know if you need some ideas. I'm happy to help. Haha!
Diana,
I am a newcomer to the Outlander novels and thoroughly enjoyed reading them. However, I am a little confused. In your last novel (Ch. 60) you wrote that Jamie hadn’t seen his son since he was twelve – yet in the previous novel (Ch. 118) didn’t Jamie see his son at the age of 18 while secretly watching with Lord John when Brianna met her brother?
Dear Semone–
Yes; there’s a correction in the trade paperback–the line _should_ read, “…hadn’t seen his son CLOSE TO since the boy was twelve.”

On this Halloween, this is the piece that beckoned me to come read it once again.
