  10. Dear Mrs. Gabaldon,
As I am slowly approaching the end of the last book (7) of your Highlander series,
I feel the need to present you with my gratitude for your gifts to us readers. I am not an english speaking mother tongue, only an english language avid reader and I am hoping to accomplish it by quoting one of the final paragraphs from an amazing book by the great James A. Michener, “The Novel”.
It perfectly expresses how I feel about your books .
    Here it is:

“When I approach the closing pages of one of your novels, a feeling of profound regret comes over me, for I realize I am about to sever a relationship with characters I have grown to love. And to abandon a corner of the world in which I have spent rewarding weeks, months and even years, for I read slowly and carefully.
I feel, when the pages dwindle, as if something good were being stolen from me, something precious that would not be replaced.
You may laugh at what I say next, but when I realize how few pages are left I ration m self, only so many each day, and when the final one looms, and I close the book, I stare at the back map for many minutes, aware that something precious has touched my life.”

My best regards and deepest admiration for your work.

  11. Thank you so much for such a compelling story. The passion, love and horror of it all. Thank you to all the actors who portrayed each character, with such emotions. Which one felt while watching, as if it came right into ones heart. Thank you to Starz for not holding back and opening the scenes to the love of the characters.

  12. Diana – please check out ELEANOR TOMLINSON as a wonderful find as a BRIANNA for the upcoming filming.
Find her as DEMELZA on the recent British TV series POLDARK. She is tall, red haired and would make a fabulous actress for this role.
Love the series. Can’t wait for the next one.

  13. Diana – I’m currently reading Drums of Autumn. A couple of things: Ian’s decision affected me so..it was so heartbreaking for me. I really like Ian. And, I loved the banter between Lord John Grey and Brianna – that relationship may have worked out :) I can see this on screen as a little comic relief (Lord Grey: “He repressed a strong urge to bang is head against the wall” )

I’m enjoying these thoroughly. On to A Fiery Cross soon!

  14. Your Outlander book series has given me a look into Scottish History I never thought I could call my own. I am 75 years old and recently heard my birth mother had ties to Scotland and Ireland. The loving family who adopted and raised me were MacDonalds. I loved the thought of being a part of that clan but deep down as I got older I knew I was “borrowing” their History. Now I am proud of my Scottish roots and grateful through your stories to learn about how people lived and loved, fought and died those many years ago.

Thank you for all the research you did to make events so accurate . and the exceptional use of the English language in your descriptions of people, places and battles. God has blessed you with a special gift.

  15. Just to thank you for years of pleasure in reading your books.
