After having read all the published books and some more, and seen all the chapters of the successive seasons of Outlander, I could not feel more disappointed with the ending they gave to the last season in which I expected more answers and the truth is that, after reading the last published book, which raises more questions than answers, giving that ending to the last season seems to me, frankly, to be a tremendous disappointment. And that without having published the last book. I had the feeling that they were in a hurry to close some chapters (how is it possible that they didn't see the birth of Claire's last grandson?! ) but the essential thing, the mysteries that the series hides, like Mister Raymond, or the prophecy that Geillys Duncan wanted to find out so insistently, that it was left a bit in the air, why stones can cross, well... all those unknowns are left unanswered and on top of that, as a culmination, watching the last episode of the last season, A new and potential time traveler is revealed to us...I get the feeling that Diana Gabaldón has let outsiders enter the domains of her Outlander books...The interest and curiosity to know what is going to happen in the last book that has not yet been published, for me, has already lost many points, after seeing the end of the season.

I am left with a phrase that I recently read in a book by María Oruña, of whom I am a huge fan, who quotes Arthur Conan Doyle: “It is preferable, when an authentic story is told, to leave it unfinished rather than to add a fantastic appendix.”

A big shout out to Diana Gabaldón and congratulations for everything she has created, the Outlander Universe. Despite the ending they have given it.

I have just completed watching all 8 episodes again for the second time. I am so many things right now! So sad to not have Claire and Jamie in my life anymore. Sad to not see Claire come back to life with all power. I'm just not ready for this series to end! I promise if there could just be an episode 9... really, really tie it up nice and neat... I promise I won't ask for an episode 10 and I can resume my normal life! For now though, I simply cannot believe Outlander is over! Diana Gabaldon... you must please reconsider for all of our sakes and my mental health!

Dear Diana
I have loved reading and re-reading your Outlander novels for many years. I have to say, when I heard there was to be a series, I was a little nervous. Afraid Starz would not do the books justice. From the first episode, those fears were set aside. Sure, the series did differ from the books, but I realize they had to condense big books down to a limited number of episodes. All in all, they did a great job thanks to your input and the amazing actors who portrayed the characters you created. I told myself early on to try not to compare one to the other. The books are the books and the series is the series. I have enjoyed (and continue to enjoy) both immensely! Thank you so much for creating this Outlander Universe!!

Dear Diana:

You have created the most memorable characters ever!!! After watching the finale again (and again!), I was glad I did as I missed something at the end with Jamie and Claire that I caught the second time around. You've made it very difficult to read other books (and to watch other shows) so I plan on reading all the Outlander books again. I so look forward to book ten. And thank you so much for your wonderful books.

A scene from season 1, episode 1 has always peaked my interest. Halfway through the episode, when Claire and Frank are exploring around the stones, a young girl, from the earlier dancing group, with curly brown hair, comes back to retrieve her head dress. After retrieving it, she sits down and looks into the distance, as if waiting. Was this just a way to end the scene, giving a reason for Frank and Claire to leave and capture the scenic beauty, or does this girl have future significance in the story?

Dear Ms. Gabaldon,
Thank you for writing the Outlander series of books. They have resonated so strongly with me with me these past years as I have been fortunate to experience a long, vibrant marriage and relationship with a man much like Jamie and, I surmise like your husband as well. While my husband, Harry, is not an 18th century Scottish laird - as a now retired large animal/equine veterinarian- he is a truly exceptional and honorable man who still makes me laugh and also go weak at the knees when I see him. How lucky we are! I think what resonates with me about your writing is how vivid and immediate the characters become in my mind - how intimate the relationship is between partners who come into - and sustain - a relationship as equals. Many thanks for this world you have given us. And if you ever are in Connecticut you are welcome at our small farm anytime! Susan

I came to the Outlander world just a little later than some as I joined the legions of fans around season 3 after visiting Scotland and not wanting to leave that beautiful historic land where my not too distant family once called home. Like the Frasers, we also ended up in America, even though my soul has always deeply felt for a land I had never known.

I started the first book around the same time I started watching the show and then had to put it aside due to a life that was so busy there was just no time to dedicate to such a bountiful series. But I absolutely love books and reading so I have picked it up again now that I have finished watching the final episodes-sometimes it makes the characters more "real" since you can connect a voice and a face to them. It was such a sad moment when the last credits rolled on season 8 and we realize as fans that it is potentially done for good. The shock of an ending that left me screaming, "No! You can't end it like this!" since like everyone else I wanted closure of the very happy kind where Jamie, Claire and their family could finally have some semblance of peace now that the war would be coming to an end soon. Yes, I would love to see them again in Scotland, but would they really go back after every journey keeps them on the Ridge? Would that even make sense after everything they sacrificed for their lives in America?

So after my lengthy post, all that is left to say is that as we all wait for the final book to be released, I will start my search for the set of books (maybe even the UK versions?) and go back to the beginning where it all started with Claire and Frank and the ghost of Jamie that would call us all back to the past.
