Dear Terri--

No, I'm pretty sure they're made that way. The "Previously..." scenes are meant to give the viewer a quick refresh on things they might need to know to understand the episode they're about to watch. So some of those introductory scenes may be from other parts of the series, as well as just the preceding episode.

    Glad you're enjoying the show!

    Best,

   --Diana

Dear Diana,

I started reading your books after I saw the first half of Season 1 of Outlander on dvd. Ever since May 20, 2015, I have been living in your books. Lots of times I have the soundtrack for "Outlander" playing while I'm reading. I am halfway through reading the 8 books for the 2nd time. Living in Asheville, North Carolina, I can just picture highlanders in kilts (mainly Jamie) running through the forest as I drive on the Blue Ridge Parkway.

I am completely smitten. I'm spoiled by your in-depth observations of people of all ages (I crack up at your descriptions of Jemmy a lot...like him being like a ham) and of your vivid imagery and wide scope of detailed research you have done to bring such wonderful stories to readers everywhere. Other books pale in comparison. I actually am a Charles Dickens fan myself. You're up there with him in my estimation! Even your longest books are too short for me!

Thank you and bless you!!

I have read and re-read the books and I love them!! I was very hesitant to watch the series but I finally couldn't stand it and gave in by purchasing the dvds. (I;m glad I did!!) I have noticed that at the beginning of some episodes where there are scenes from previous episodes show scenes that are not in the previous episodes. I know the story so well, I understand what's going on but my husband is missing alot. Is this the way the dvds are made or do I have a bad set?

Dear George--

Well, quite a lot, evidently...you seem to have skipped a large chunk of the second section, in which both those issues are pretty thoroughly addressed.

   Best,

I would love a 10th book that tells how Bree, Roger and the kids make it to the right time to be with Clair and Jamie again. I love this series of books. I am just now finishing my second read of the whole series! I have so enjoyed these books and want more.

Thank you,

Dear Diana,

I have read all the books in the Outlander Series and the Lord John Series! Love them and can't wait for Book 9. Thank you for posting excerpts from Book 9, I am anxious to see how they it will all fit together once completed. I am hoping that Claire may get to finish writing and publishing her medical book in Book 9?? Looking forward to your next posts.

The only gift I asked for my birthday & Christmas was the Boxed Gift Set. I hope to find it under my tree. (The hubby has stated that it is very likely Santa is bringing it since it's the only thing on my list!) Of course, having the one Sam signed would be ideal...a girl can dream:)

Wishing you a happy, healthy & safe holiday season,

Dear Karen--

It's in the book, and is revealed at the witch trial via the vaccination scar--but it's somewhat more complex.

   Best,

Hi Diana,

While I've never read your Outlander books, I am loving watching the series on TV. I was just able to purchase Season 1B last week and I'm starting to watch it. Loving the romance, action and adventure in this last half of season one as much as the first half. Because I didn't read the book, I saw the part where Geillis admits she is also from the future. Was that in the book? It just seemed to be dropped in at that point in the episodes. I didn't see that coming until it happened. Were there clues left in the previous episodes she was in?

I just finished watching the second season. The acting, directing, screen writing and cinema photography was top notch. I re watched part of it for the scenery. I'm a painter and some of the areas reminded me of Washington State. I found it interesting that McCreary is from WA state.

I fell in love for the second time with the Scottish Highlands. The first was reading your description and the second was seeing it. I hope to visit Scotland sometime in the future.

I really liked how the screen writers compressed the timeline in the books in order to move the characters forward. None of the tenor of the books or the character progression was lost. Were you involved in any of the screenwriting, Diana?

The acting was brilliant. These actors are so good at their craft. The love scenes were beautiful, sensual and artfully directed. It occurred to me while watching these scenes that these actors are enacting the most personal of all acts between two people all the while naked with cameras shooting over the shoulder, up close shots...I don't know how they do it. I would think that this vulnerability would be scary! They are just so fine at what they do.

PS. Did I read it correctly that there is another sound track going to be released? The sound track is brilliant as well. McCreary is a wonderful composer.

The rape scenes were hard to watch but none the less brilliantly acted and directed.

This series is a work of art pure and simple. I can't wait to see the rest of the story. And, I can't wait to read number nine.
