I have just finished the Lord John series, and frankly, I want to read more. Not to mention I actually miss Jamie and Claire. And, what happened to Jem?
However, I digress. I think the Lord John excerpt should start the book. As someone mentioned, it is a Lord John book. While Jamie's passion for Claire is heart-rendering, I don't think it piques curiosity as the Lord John excerpt does.
I have so enjoyed reading the Outlander and Lord John series. Not only is the history interesting, the characters marvelous, but your use of the English language is absolutely marvelous. I seldom have to look up words, but you have challenged me.
Thank you for your wonderful works.

I feel that doing Jamie's chapter first defines the time. It is helpful when going backward in time to allow one to focus on the story rather than trying to guess what time period it is in. The title helps, but it makes it clearer by starting with Jamie. It is not as clear in the chapter that begins with Lord John because the conversation does not clarify the time period. Or maybe I am just forgetful with all of the book details.

I notice you say that unabridged ABOSA is on Audible but this seems only to apply to Audible.com, i.e the US/North America website. Their sister website in the UK don't have it and are unlikely to get it - shame really.

Having said that, a friend bought the CDs for me whilst she was in California visiting her daughter, so I do have an unabridged copy - it's just a pain transferring them to my iPod via iTunes. Wish it was on Audible,co,uk, as it would be so much quicker...

Oh well, just have to wait for the copyright to come off the abridged version I suppose.

Have a great time in Inverness and Aberdeen - I was up in the Cairngorms last week and it was lovely, even if it was cold (I'm mad - I was CAMPING!)

I LOVE that Jamie is a Taurus! And as the mother of (2) Taurus sons - I definitely agree that there is no doubt. My oldest son was supposed to be born on June 4th, and thus would have been a Gemini - I am convinced that he was born early because there is NO WAY he is anything other than a Taurus! Interestingly enough, he also appears to have a head every bit as bone hard as Jamie's as well.

I realized I do the same thing. When Outlander starts I totally mimic Davina's recitation in my head before she reads. I even lilt my voice. Perhaps I need a break from these books. ;)

Diana -

I certainly am going to try and make it there. Finally have my 'enhanced' driver's license, so border crossing should go smoothly. It's been too long since I've been to any Highland Games. I am due.

Hah! Loved your story about the 9 month contract and "arranging" to have babies in May. Here, professors are on a year round contract with most of our teaching between Sept to April. Both of my babies were born in March. Too tired to do any "arranging" until after the marking was done...
