I cannot thank you enough or truly explain to you what an impact your Outlander series has had on me.

Firstly, it opened up an amazing world to me. Literally and figuratively. It inspired me to take my first trip to Europe and I will be heading back to Scotland for the third time this year come August!! When people ask WHY I would possibly be going back to the same place again......they (wink, wink) assume that I must have met someone there. How to explain that well, yeah, but he's a bit older than I, married and, um, fictional. :-)

During our first visit, my friend and I made a point to visit Culloden. This was no small feat, since it was explained that it was not part of our tour (too much of a downer). We left our luggage on the tour van, got out a map, hopped on a local bus and away we went explaining that we would meet up with them later that day. It did not disappoint. While it was definitely a solemn place, it was one that I will always remember fondly. When I located the Fraser stone, I actually cried. Mind, I've not a Scottish gene in my body. Pity that.

We stayed a while in Edinburgh and of course loved eating lunch at The World's End. We made wonderful friends who I cannot wait to visit again this summer and fell in love with Jamie and Claire's world. We've also introduced them to countless people who have embraced them as wholly as I have. These range from my mom who reads nothing but murder mysteries, my Aunt who was equally heartbroken when she finished the last book, stating "I didn't want to leave my friends", to a new friend in Scotland who cannot seem to find the books over there, so we mail them to him from New York!!

Thank you again from the bottom of my heart!! .....and, of course, hurry up and write. I hate to see my poor Aunt suffering so. :-)

Much obliged. {g} As for Jem, the pick-up to his cliffhanger is among the excerpts under "Book Eight", under the "Writing" tab on this site.

I'm trying not to be upset with you...or with my sister, who turned me on to your work. It took me four months to read up to Echo and all of John Grey (which means a may have slightly neglected the housework and maybe even my kids a little bit...but not much!). Now Jem is on a railcar in a pitch dark cave, headed for a timegate and you are off doing tours, signing books, and reading 17 books at a time! I may be a little hypersensetive since I have a son Jem"s age (his name is Gavin, which made the hanging a bit unsettling, but I liked hearing Jamie say my son"s name). I need to know what happens to the boy, so drop everything and finish this. And please, for my husband's sake, end this now. He cannot handle me waiting for another one!
And just so you know, I have loved every word I have read so far. You are an artist, and I thank you for the gift you have given me.

A friend loan me the Outlander. I couldn't put the book down. I read it in a few days. Your stories move so quickly that every time I thought, I would only read a couple more pages, then there would be something else happens. Later I would look at the clock and three hours have gone by. The characters in your books are so real that when I finished the series I feel that I have lost friends.

I just finished reading An Echo in the Bone. By the cliffhangers you left, I feel and hope there is another book coming. I have learned quite a lot of Scottish History. Thank you. I am from Irish descent. Therefore, I have been interested in Irish history, and the history of Prince Edward Island, Canada where there are many Scottish.
I am going to start on the Lord John Series.

Thank you for such wonderful books

Dear Noni--

No, I don't recall Donald Macleod of Galtrigal, but he sounds like a most interesting character!

 Thanks for your good opinion!

Dear Diana,

In your research did you ever come across my ancester... Donald Macleod of Galtrigal who married Catherine MacDonald of the Glenaladale family. He is know as Prince Charlie's Pilot or the "Faithful Palinurus"?

I almost recognise Donald the Old Trojan of Berenay and his little skinny offsider in regards to the missing Jacobite Gold.

I love your books and just found on on Wikipedia there are a couple of books released in recent years that I haven't read.

I appreciate the in depth research you must do to build your characters and places... I can't think of another author who can make me feel like "I am actually there".

thank you... Noni

Thank you so much for this! My son visited Culloden Moor several years ago, and stood by the Cameron stone (our Clan).
Dear Diana,
I THANK YOU from the bottom of my heart ~ firstly, for writing the Outlander series, making Jamie
and Claire as real to me as any fictional characters have ever been. I look forward to reading more
of their lives and their families, and can NOT fathom having you bring them to conclusion .... ever!
There are so many characters that can supply you with storylines; I hope you never get bored of them.

Secondly, THANK YOU for continuing the connection between yourself, your characters, your stories and your readers. This website has been a blessing to me, because each and every one of the books (I'm just starting #7) have opened up more questions re: the historical information. I spend so much time here on your website as well as on the internet, delving deeper into the Highlands as well as the
North Carolina connections.

As a fairly new reader (I started Outlander at the end of January, 2011 ...approx. 3 months ago) I'm
glad to have this opportunity to tell you how heart-warming these stories have been and that I am grateful to you for the time, energy, and honesty you have committed to them.

God bless you!
